2. Lohagad Fort, into the history

The ‘Iron Fort’ at 3400 ft, is the definition of history and the brilliant masterpiece of architecture. 96km away from Mumbai, the fort nestles on a hilltop near Malavali. Holding the footprints of Chatrapati Shivaji, the fort is of great historical importance. 3. Ratangad Fort trek, green green everywhere

The 400 years old trek was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji and is known for preserving its history. The cavity-like structure on top of the natural rock peak has given its name ‘Nedhe’ means Eye of the Needle. You would be taken away by the breeze during your 6km boat ride from Bhandardara to reach the base village, Ratanwadi.

4. Mahuli Fort Trek, eye-catcher

Regarded as the highest point in the Thane district, the Mahuli Fort is nestled on the western end of the Sahyadri Range. 2815 ft above sea level, the fort though secluded, the view from the top is distinct. 5. Rajmachi Trek, mingle into the jungle

Considered the best for its serene look from the destination, the Rajmachi fort trek is popular among other treks in Mumbai and Pune. The Shrivardhan fort and Manaranjan fort are the two mounded structures in Rajmachi peak. Double delight! Standing amidst the Sahyadris, the 2710 ft fort was constructed by the Satavahanas and later captured by Chatrapati Shivaji. The big structure is a collection of residential units, administrative centers, water reservoirs, and secret tunnels.
